Rock Band upsets pedal-heads.

In an act of superfluity, Electro Harmonix have teamed with Rock Band to introduce effects pedals in their next game.

I get that they're trying to recreate the whole "I'm good at something" experience, but what guitarist, if given the choice, wouldn't want a guitar that kicks in overdrive simply by holding the guitar vertically?

They have it backwards. Give me a guitar that has Star Power, not a video game guitar that acts like real life...except for the 'only-being-able-to-play-songs-by-bands-you-hear-on-the-radio,-except-for-the-bands-that-you-always-hear-on-the-radio-because-their-songs-cost-too-much-to-licence-unless-you-build-the-entire-game-around-them' part (Beatles, Metallica)

Anyways, originally I was upset that both Rock Band and EH, of all people, gave their new 'overdrive' pedal a similar design to the Big Muff, which is, of course, not an overdrive but a fuzz.

It could be just a marketing issue, as EH dosent make any overdrives as notable as the Big Muff. Perhaps Rock Band has a licensing agreement with EH? I don't know.

An Ibanez TS-808 or a DOD 250 would have been better choices from a purist's perspective. At the end of the day, however, purists are more likely to, you know, actually play guitar and complain on the internet than...right.

Announcing: EHX Overdrive for Rock Band 2

Update: The Pedal is an officially licenced third party product by Mad Catz. This just makes it better since I already have a vendetta against Mad Catz. You've all been there: You get an N64 for your birthday but your friends dont want to hang out because you only got one controller. So you ask for a second input and on christmas morning you open some hot third party mess of a peripheral. You know what I mean: the kind that gets spongey when you sweat on it and stays sticky for months after your friend pours Orange Crush on it at your pop-chips-parents party. Now nobody wants to use it and you always feel like either a jerk or a bad host when you make the ethnic kid use it...wait a minute...I was the ethnic kid...

THIS IS WHY I HATE MAD CATZ

Summer 2002

Oh hey!

That noisecase I built, as I discovered, also works as a very functional recording studio. Upon discovering this, I spent the day one-taking an ep about being lonely in the Summer. Drag, I know, but let me know what you think. Just keep in mind that, as I said, everything on this was improvised. My voice is drenched in reverb and fuzz so bear with that as it's a result of lack of confidence and not production capability.
